The signature public program of the Wilmington, North Carolina Chapter is the annual Kaleidoscope Fine Arts Brunch.
Link Cynthia Brown wins General Mills award
Chapter President Link Cynthia Brown (fifth from left) was one of five women selected from around the country to receive General Mills' Corporation's "Sisters Saving Hearts" award. Link Cynthia is the Executive Director of the New Hanover County Community Action which sponsors the annual Heart to Heart Luncheon in partnership with the University of North Carolina Wilmington School of Nursing. The Wilmington, NC Chapter is one of several additional sponsors. General Mills selected women based on their efforts to raise awareness of heart disease and educate African-American women on heart health. A charity of their choice received $5,000.
The Fairfield County Chapter of the Links, Inc. was a recipient as well and their Chapter President Deborah Elam (fourth from left) was on hand to accept on their behalf.
Wilmington Chapter wins Public Service Organization of the Year Award
Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilmington, NC Chapter of The Links, Inc. was chosen Public Organization of the Year at the 5th Annual Public Service Recognition Reception Friday, June 8, 2007. The program is held annually to recognize, honor and celebrate those who serve the Cape Fear region as government and nonprofit employees.
The reception was held in the City of Wilmington Council Chambers. Tracy Wilkes, executive director of DREAMS of Wilmington, was the keynote speaker. Awards were given to honor Public Servants of the Year and Public Organizations of the Year.
The 2007 winner of Public Organization of the Year was the Wilmington NC Chapter of The Links, Inc. Other nominees were Cape Fear Citizens for a Safe Environment, Child Advocacy and Parenting Place, Pender Adult Services, Inc., and The UNITY Group
The 5th Annual Public Service Recognition Reception was presented by the University of North Carolina Wilmington Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program, the Southeastern North Carolina Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (SENCASPA) and Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO). It is sponsored by Southern Corrosion, Inc. and the UNC Wilmington Division of Public Service and Continuing Studies.
Link Bertha Todd wins Wilmington Star-News Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004
The Star-News Lifetime Achievement Award is designed to honor outstanding individuals who have given substantially of themselves for the improvement of the communities of Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina, particularly in the areas of economic development, education, charity, health, preservation, arts and the environment.

Wilmington, NC Chapter partners with Voorhees College
The Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated initiative to endow fifty-one (51) Historically Black Colleges and Universities located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Republic of South Africa, was kicked off by a concert by Nancy Wilson in Charlotte, NC. in September, 2006.
Each chapter in the Southern Area is to select an historically black college or university to partner with in this endeavor. Our chapter is partnered with Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina. Connecting Link Dr. Lee Monroe, husband of Link Gloria Monroe, is the President of Voorhees College.
The concert, donations and other fundraising activities raised more than $300,000.00 to to underwrite scholarship endowments at each of the historically black colleges and universities in the Southern Area. Read More>>
