The Links, Incorporated has a strong and rich record of support for the performing and visual arts. From the inception of the organization, we have found unique ways to express our individual and collective interests in cultural enrichment in our communities. We have provided scholarships for talented individuals, sponsored quality programs for display of talent by budding as well as established artists, and sponsored several programs and projects for young people.

One of our points of pride is the local ballet prodigy, Miss Dara Holmes. Dara has performed at many of our public daraholmesprograms, and we look forward to assisting her in her ballet and educational progress. (Click on the thumbnail to see a bigger picture.)

Photographing a Day in Our World Project

This is the second year of this basic program to help prepare the students for taking exciting and creative photographs. Students were given instruction on how to focus their cameras and tips on selecting a subject and shown sample photographs. The workshop also included a discussion on how to create written personal stories through photographs.

Selected pictures were displayed at the The Wilmington, N. C. Chapter of the Links, Incorporated Fine Arts Brunch, March, 2007. A reception for photographer participants and their families was held on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Cape Fear Museum, Wilmington, North Carolina. This project was a part of the Links to Literacy umbrella program.

We were assisted by Mr. John Davis, Photographer, Mr. Herbert Harris, President of the Life Skill Institute, Inc., the Community Boys and Girls Club, and Girls, Inc. with this project.
